You have worked hard to earn your Higher Education award. You may have slaved over assignments, worried over grades, irritated your loved ones. Sacrifices have been considerable...

Now is the time to celebrate. This is an evening for you, your fellow graduates, and also for your family, friends or the other people who have supported you throughout your studies. It is an evening for you to reflect on your dedication and success over the past few years and a time to look forward to a great future.

We have introduced an online booking system this year to make the process easier; you will now benefit from an allocated time for gowning and photography on the evening so that your graduation experience is as smooth and easy as possible.

The following pages and the email/postal correspondence will provide you with all the information you will need to book your gown, photography and your place at this year’s Graduation Ceremony.

In 2000 South East Essex College and the University of Essex established a collaborative partnership which brought Higher Education to south Essex. The venture, between two established and highly successful institutions, is a major positive force for change in education.  It provides opportunities for increased levels of the employability of local people, benefiting the local community and local businesses. 
 
South East Essex College is known for its innovative approach to learning, teaching and the use of interactive technologies in an impressive modern learning environment.  It nurtures industry links with local and national businesses including Sony, Nikon, Apple, Southend United, Renaissance Southend, Keymed and many more.
 
The University of Essex is a long-standing higher education institution and one of the top ten universities in the UK for its teaching and research excellence. The University is the UK’s most internationally diverse campus university, with more than 8,000 students drawn from over 130 countries studying across three campuses in Essex.
 
Together the College and the University form the Southend Campus: a joint further and higher education quarter which is bringing an increased range of educational opportunities to the people of South Essex.
 
South East Essex College continues to grow and currently serves 1000 higher education students on honours and foundation degrees, diplomas and certificate courses and a total of 13,000 learners across all of the College provision.
 
In Southend, the University offers undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes in a range of subjects including entrepreneurship and business, health and human sciences, performing arts and psychoanalytical studies.  The site includes retail units, a business development centre with an i-Lab (innovation laboratory), a business incubation centre, and hosts an academic dental clinic.
 
Together, South East Essex College and the University of Essex will provide modern educational facilities for up to 3,000 higher education students in Southend.
